Detroit is where it all began in 2013, with the formation of a Hidradenitis Suppurativa support group meeting by Founding Director Angela Parks Miller and research fellow Dr. Soandso of Henry Ford Health System. Patients and caregivers that were brought together at those first meetings realized that there is a tremendous amount of work to be done in the HS arena — not just in supporting one another but in raising awareness, erasing stigma, promoting research, and making the patient voice heard. Our organization began working together unofficially from those first moments but was granted national nonprofit 501(c)(3) status in 2017.
