Hidradenitis Suppurativa Awareness Week State Proclamations 2019

For the third year running, Hope for HS is organizing a campaign to get Hidradenitis Suppurativa Awareness Week recognized in every state!

Our first year, we were successful in getting the governors of Michigan and Georgia to proclaim HS Awareness Week in their state. Last year, with residents from 35 states requested, 17 state governors issued proclamations in recognition of HS Awareness Week.

Would you like to see Hidradenitis Suppurativa Awareness Week recognized by your state’s governor? Send your name and address to info@hopeforhs.org and we’ll empower you with all the instructions, templates, and letters of support you need to make the request of your governor.

Do you have a friend or relative in another state that can help spread awareness? You do not need to be a patient to make this request. Anyone interested in helping get a proclamation in their state is welcome to email us as well.

Are you requesting the Awareness Proclamation from your state’s governor? Sound off in the comments below!

Happy to help Hope for HS request a proclamation for North Carolina again. We were able to get one last year and I’m optimistic about NC getting one this year too. Will keep you posted! 🙂

Last year Texas received a proclamation that was submitted by another HS warrior. I am happy to announce that earlier this week I received this years 2019 proclamation for Texas that I respectfully submitted a couple of weeks ago. I am one happy HS Warrior! 🙂

PA! I have been fighting the fight for ten years and I feel like friends/ family and especially employers just don’t understand the severity and unpredictabilities of this disease. Please help me raise more awareness in my state !

Many years ago (2006) we had an HS Convention in Philadelphia and as a member of the planning board, I was able to get a proclamation from the mayor of Philadelphia, recognizing June as a month of HS awareness. Sadly, that was a very long time ago and nothing beyond that ever came of it- but it was a huge accomplishment 13 years ago when HS was still considered “the hidden disease”.

Wow, that is amazing Trish! We would be honored if you would join us in our efforts to get Tom Wolf to recognize HS Awareness Week in 2020. Additionally, we are in the process of starting an in-person support group meeting in Philadelphia. If you’re still in that area, make sure you’re signed up to get updates so you can attend!

I am also a Pennsylvania resident and suffer from HS.
I would love to help in the effort to raise awareness in the hopes a cure can be found.
If there is any way I can help please let me know.
